The Love That Never Let's Go
Romans 8:31-39 (NLT)
31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

"Romans 8 is not teaching careless security,
but confidence rooted in a living relationship with Christ."
Dr. Leroy Forlines
In 2026, surveys and research consistently show several fears rising to the top:
In Romans 8 the world's greatest fears meet God's greatest promise!
Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) "Neither death nor life... nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
- Financial insecurity
- Serious illness and health problems
- Loneliness and isolation
- Global instability
- Artificial Intelligence
- Death and what comes after –
In Romans 8 the world's greatest fears meet God's greatest promise!
Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) "Neither death nor life... nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Four Characteristics of God’s Love:
1. God's Love Gives Us Confidence in Every Battle
Romans 8:31-32 (NLT) What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
2. God's Love Silences Every Accusation
Romans 8:33-34 (NLT) Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
3. God's Love Sustains Us Through Every Trial
Romans 8:35-37 (NLT) Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
4. God's Love Holds Us Forever
Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.
Paul piles up every possible category:
Nothing in Death or Life – "Neither death nor life..."
Nothing in the Spiritual Realm – "Neither angels nor demons..."
Nothing in Time – "Neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow."
Nothing in Power – "Not even the powers of hell..."
Nothing in Space – "No power in the sky above or in the earth below..."
Nothing in All Creation – "Indeed, nothing in all creation..."
Romans 8:31-32 (NLT) What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

Nothing in Power – "Not even the powers of hell..."
Nothing in Space – "No power in the sky above or in the earth below..."
Nothing in All Creation – "Indeed, nothing in all creation..."
God's love is greater than every external force
that seeks to destroy the believer.
Take-Aways:
Paul begins with a question: "If God is for us, who can be against us?" He ends with an answer: "Nothing can separate us from the love of God."
- When You Feel Unworthy – Remember Christ died for you.
- When You Feel Condemned – Remember Christ intercedes for you.
- When You Feel Overwhelmed – Remember Christ strengthens you.
- When You Feel Alone – Remember Christ is with you.
- When You Fear the Future – Remember Christ already stands there waiting.
Paul begins with a question: "If God is for us, who can be against us?" He ends with an answer: "Nothing can separate us from the love of God."
The Christian life is not confidence in ourselves.
It is confidence in a Savior whose love never loosens His grip.
Closing Challenge:
The cross proves His love. The resurrection guarantees His victory. The intercession of Christ secures His people. So, when life shakes you, remember: you may feel weak. You may feel weary. You may feel forgotten.
But if you are in Christ, You are loved by a love that never lets go!

Will you accept God's grace and free gift of faith in Jesus today?
Pray this prayer to receive Jesus as your Savior:
“Lord Jesus, today I receive Your grace. I admit that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again to give me new life. Today, I turn from my old ways and invite You into my heart. Be my Lord, be my Savior, and help me follow You all the days of my life. Right now, I trust you as my Savior and will follow you as my Lord. Thank You for loving me. Amen.”
Assurance of Salvation
If you prayed that prayer and meant it in your heart, you can be sure that you are saved.
Romans 10:13 (NLT) “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
John 10:28 (NLT) “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me.”
